JANUARY MEETING CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS

BUS ROUTE WHILE ROAD WORKS ARE ON GOING

The Parish Council are negotiating with Pulhams as to why the 64 bus is not stopping in Filkins currently.

We have been told that they are not aware that they can come off A361 and drive through the village and re join - although 2 buses a day which serve Burford School already do this.

We are doing everything we can to get this reinstated as soon as possible.

The Villager bus service will continue to run on Wednesday – timings as below

The Parish Council hope to have the 64 service restored as soon as possible

Notice of road closure order is below - from 12 February - 28 March 2024 for the B4477 from Filkins to Alvescot. This is for re-surfacing and drainage works.

Filkins Pool will open at 10am on 4 May 2024 - membership will be available from then. Please download and complete the membership form on the swimming pool page BEFORE attending. The committee will be at the pool to complete your membership and take your payment

Platinum Garden will hold its official opening - come and help make a bug hotel!

Village shop will be serving tea, coffee and bacon baps

Kemps Men of Norwich, Morris Music & Ceilidh plus the usual two course 'excellent VH Supper'

12 gardens, including the Jubilee Garden, in our villages will be opening to share their summer gardens on Sunday 2nd June

Come and see the amazing variety of gardens and allotments we have and to talk to our extremely talented and knowledgeable gardeners.

Last year the NGS once more raised over £3 million for the most worthwhile charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Nurses and Parkinson’s UK.

The Village Shop will be open for Ice Creams and treats

New fast service to Oxford from Carterton starts on 3 June 2024.  4 buses per day.

More and more of us are growing vegetables and flowers in our own gardens, window boxes or allotments, so do enter your specimens...remember the weather is the same for everyone, so do have a go. Some new classes in all sections and three photography classes this year!

Remember, the Filkins & Broughton Poggs Produce Show is a long standing tradition in the village and everyone old, young, villagers and friends alike are welcome, especially the children. Do please enter and come along on the day

The Filkins & Broughton Poggs Produce Show belongs to us all.

The pool will close for the season on Saturday 7th September.

‘Dog Swim’ on Sunday 8th September!! bring your canine friends for a splash about.

If you are not yet a member and would like to attend, share application forms are available from the Shop. Shares are available at £10 each (one per adult resident).

Christmas tree lights 7th December 2024

The St Filica Committee invite you to join Father Christmas by the war memorial for the switching on of the Christmas tree lights after which he will lead us to the church for a few carols. Following this there will be mince pies, a selection of cakes, mulled wine and soft drinks.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME.
