Filkins Playground Project

Update!

The Parish Council have finished their part of the project – the bark surrounds have been built and the bark has been delivered and spread. Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far monumental effort moving so much bark, building etc…

The first 2 pieces of equipment have been ordered by the Committee and will be delivered at the beginning of May ready to be assembled.

Grants have been received from WODC, Lottery Fund & Cottesway Housing  and help has been offered for the planting.

We do still need your help!

The total cost of the project is approx £40k which will be approached in two stages. The equipment is listed below but this does not include the groundworks and surfacing.

PHASE 1 EQUIPMENT completion summer 2022
Windermere activity centre – £4,950 + VAT                  
Basket swing – £2740 +VAT

PHASE 2 EQUIPMENT completion 2023
STEPPING LOGS £90 + VAT EACH  x 30 =£2700 + VAT
SLIDE AND TUNNELS FOR MOUND YET TO BE QUOTED – estimates at £5000
PLAY MOUND £600 + VAT
PICNIC BENCH £490 + VAT
JUBILEE TREE BENCH £1420 + VAT

We are holding some  events this year
19th / 20th March – come and help us lay the new bark and mark out the basketball court and hopscotch or pop your gardening gloves on and plant some plants!
2nd/3rd June – JubileeWeekend celebrations -handprint painting in the playground
Summer Date tbc – Childrens popcorn and movie night in the village hall
That leads us nicely on to our fundraising project for the spring – The Filkins and Broughton Poggs Community Cookbook! Driven forward by Andrew Berisford from our project group, we are
hoping to produce a cookbook, full of all our communities favourites recipe’s (Or, ones they have pinched from Granny or dare I say Mary Berry or Ottelenghi! If you have a recipe you
would like to contribute please email it to Andrew at andrew.berisford@wcbmarketing.co.uk. We hope to then sell copies of the cookbook locally to raise funds for the project,
and you get to enjoy a whole host of new recipes.
