Filkins Bowls Club in Rouses Lane was formed in 1936, the green being laid on land granted to the club by Sir Stafford Cripps to be held in trust by the club so long as it remains in being. The Club House was built by the members, helped with a grant from The Sports Council.
The Bowls Green and Club House are maintained by volunteers.
Filkins Bowls Club has traditionally followed a policy of keeping costs and fees to a minimum. The Green and Club House are maintained entirely by the members themselves.
Every Monday (ex. Bank Holidays) from the end of April there is a practice night from 6pm until dusk on the Bowls Green - everyone welcome, no experience necessary as tuition is available - only £2.00 entry fee.
You will find us on Rouses Lane by the Village Shop and Swimming Pool.
